The New Orleans BioInnovation Center is a nonprofit business incubator dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and supporting Louisiana innovators as they develop technologies related to life sciences and the environment. The facility is housed in downtown’s burgeoning medical district on Canal Street, where more than $2.3 billion has been invested in new hospital and medical research construction.
Situated in the heart of the Central Business District and within walking distance to the French Quarter, the Center boasts 66,000 square feet of state-of-the-art wet-lab, office and conference space to conceive and cultivate new bioscience ideas. The Center exists amid hospitals, medical universities, research centers, and biotech businesses and can house dozens of companies, providing the infrastructure to support the day-to-day functions of company research and business. Along with offering access to cutting-edge biomedical research equipment, the Center’s design offers a close network of the region’s leading researchers and innovators to promote collaboration within the life science community.
The Center currently houses more than 30 tenants and has both lab and office space available for lease for a wide scope of companies, ranging from pre-startups and startups to maturing and expanding businesses. NOBIC’s first floor includes a 100+-person conferencing center with state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment, as well as an inner atrium and large, landscaped interior courtyard.
Tenants have access to: high-speed internet access and basic office equipment; shared-use laboratory equipment; free shared conference rooms on upper floors; reduced rates on first floor conference space rental; basic janitorial services; break rooms and vending facilities; 24-hour access to secured facility; shared copy, scanner, and other office equipment; and collaboration with 30+ other tenant companies.
